Your photos stay on your phone
Cutout removes backgrounds with the image recognition built into your iPhone. Your photos are never uploaded to us or anyone else. Cutout only reads the photos you choose in the photo picker, and when you save it only adds new pictures to your library; it never reads the rest of it.
What we do collect
To keep the app working and decide how often it shows ads, Cutout sends us a small amount of anonymous usage information:
- a random ID created when you install the app (it is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or advertising ID);
- simple counts of what happened, such as “a photo was saved” or “an ad was shown”, with the time, the app version and your phone’s platform (iOS).
We use this only to run and improve Cutout. We don’t sell it, and we don’t combine it with other data. It is stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider.
Ads
The free version of Cutout may show ads provided by Google AdMob. We ask for non-personalised ads, so Cutout does not track you across other apps and does not ask for tracking permission. Google may still collect device information (such as your IP address and device model) to show and measure ads, as described in Google’s policy.
No accounts
Cutout has no sign-up and no account, so we hold no name, email or password for you.
Children
Cutout is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the random ID from your phone. Because we can’t tie the anonymous counts to you, there is nothing personal for us to delete, but you can email us and we’ll help.
